Purpose of the Congregation

Special  Work

Special Purpose

The special purpose of the Congregation is to perform works of charity toward the Sacred Heart of Jesus and our neighbor.

In fulfillment of the Congregation’s special purpose, the first work of its members is to comfort and console the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  This is done by making reparation for the ingratitude of men, and by striving to satisfy the burning thirst of the Divine Heart to be loved and honored in the Blessed Sacrament.  Comforting and consoling the Sacred Heart is of such importance that the desire to do so must animate the daily lives of all the members.  It is fulfilled by the daily Holy Hour and especially by the Holy Hour on Thursday night from eleven to midnight, which was requested by Our Lord of St. Margaret Mary.  In this, the members must strive to imitate the ardent charity that burns in the Immaculate Heart of Mary towards her Divine Son.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass

“The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass,” writes Saint Alphonsus Liguori, “is an action most holy and dear to Godan action that appeases most efficaciously the anger of God against sinners, that beats down most effectually the powers of hell, that brings to men on earth the greatest benefits.”

For this reason, the bishops and priests of the Congregation of St. Pius V find no distance too great, no sacrifice too burdensome, and no effort too arduous in providing Holy Mass for as many souls as possible.

Administering the Sacraments

The seven Sacraments are the means instituted by Our Lord to give grace to the faithful.  To provide the Sacraments, Christ instituted the holy priesthood and designated priest as the “dispensers of His [Sacraments]” (1 Cor. 4:1).

Faithful to this commission, the bishops and priests of the Congregation are ever ready to administer the Sacraments to the faithful.

Communion Calls

Providing the Holy Eucharist for the faithful is an important duty of the priests. Because some parishioners at many of the missions are feeble and unable to travel to Holy Mass, the priests bring them the Blessed Sacrament.

Sick Calls

The priests also administer Extreme Unction and bring Holy Viaticum to thos who are critically ill.  No matter the time of day or night, the priests are always willing to travel to whoever needs the Last Sacraments.

Enthronement of the Sacred Heart

The Enthronement of the Sacred Heart is the official recognition of the sovereignty of the Sacred Heart of Jesus over the Catholic family. This recognition is outwardly expressed when the family solemnly installs the image of that divine Heart in a prominent place in the home and makes the Act of Consecration.

On August 22, 2013, the Sacred Heart was solemnly enthroned as King of Immaculate Heart Seminary. Each month, the members renew the Act of Consecration. The certificate on display is the original from 2013.

While the Enthronement forms a special part of seminary life, it is also one of the works of the Congregation of St. Pius V. In fulfillment of our special purpose, to comfort and console the Sacred Heart, the members strive to promote the Enthronement among the faithful as a means of comforting Our Lord and obtaining His blessing and protection upon the family.
